"Son of a broccoli, what have I done to myself!?"

--------------------

Uh, no offense, Dr. Reginald Bushroot, but this is what you get when you hook yourself up to a lightning-powered machine and infecting yourself with chloroplasts. Just common sense.

I found it weird that I'm drawing fanart for shows that I was recently introduced to while I was in college (TMNT, The Mask, etc.) so I thought "Why don't I draw the shows I watched as a kid?". So bam, Darkwing Duck fanart. And if you can't guess that Bushroot is my favorite Darkwing Duck villain, then you probably haven't been watching my gallery for that long, just saying. Like half my gallery is mad science.

Okay, re-watched Beauty and the Beet (aka this guy's origin episode) recently and one part bugged me. There's a part in the episode where this guy's clothes just randomly disappear. He runs to the university fully clothed, but when he enters the room, he's mysteriously naked. Even as a kid this bugged the hell out of me. Where did his clothes go, Disney? WHEEEERE? So I figure, why not draw Bushroot in his old clothes and see how that looks?

...and somehow that turned into a somewhat traumatized, post-transformation Bushroot. The ripped clothes make no sense but are influenced from the 1987 TMNT. Ripped clothes are like nature's way of saying "Warning, MUTANT!".

Yes, I know in the cartoon he just adapted really quickly to his mutation the moment he saw he had actual power and could now wreak justice on the people who had wronged him in life, but I'm sure there was a brief moment in time where he just freaked out and realized his old life is over. Unlike Megavolt (who I need to draw now by the way) whose brain was intensively damaged from his transformation, Bushroot was at least sane enough to realize "Well, geez, my landlord's going to have a FIT!".

I just want to say you have no idea how happy this drawing makes me, because it's telling me that I drew my childhood show correctly. If you look at my art, you can really tell that this show influenced me deeply.

Fun story, but while coloring this I think I must've listened to the entire soundtrack of Little Shop of Horrors like three times. Now I can't help but picture Bushroot and Spike (aka Rhoda II) singing "The guy sure looks like plant food to me!".

---------
Disclaimer: Bushroot and Darkwing Duck belongs to Disney, a company that refuses to release Volume 3 of the show, by the way.
