1. Where did you get the name "Turquoisephoenix"?

Back in the dawns of the Internets, I used to go by Nidogod (Extremely old fancharacter I have which is basically a sentient Nidoking with wings), which was weird, because I'm a girl. My old e-mail used to be Roboreb for reasons unknown.

So basically, I hung out at two places: Pokemasters' forums and a Digimon forum where I was Phoenixmon. I chose the name Phoenixmon off that site because, back when I was the Digimon nerd, I loved Biyomon and I absolutely adored her Mega Form called Phoenixmon.

So, basically, the root of Turquoisephoenix started from a winged Nidoking and the Mega form off some pink bird. O_o

Then, terror struck. The Digimon forums were destroyed, and I had to find a new forum to bug and post crappy messages. So, naturally, I found the, back in the time, the coolest game website there is; GameFAQs.

Phoenixmon was taken, I didn't like Nidogod, and my Roboreb@hotmail.com had been deleted because I never used the damn thing.

What's a girl to do?

So, on the fly, right there in the registration portion of the site, I slap a color to the word Phoenix, make the e-mail blueflowerphoenix (it later got deleted, hence why now my e-mail has a _ in it), and the rest is history.

He came in July 2005 just in time for the ComiCon. We had fun there. We got to meet the Archie Sonic artists, I got to lose my digital camera (don't worry, I got an exact replica of the damn thing now), and we got to meet a man in a Pikachu costume.

The VU booth had only previews of their Hulk videogame.

Oh, was he an axe murderer? No.
I still got chewed out big time by my parents though.

...only for my sister to later do the same with one of HER Internet friends. XP

5. Are you REAAAALLY a female like you say you are or are you just a fat overweight man lying over the Internets?

I'm not a camera whore.
I don't like taking pictures of myself, let alone broadcasting them over the Internet.

Yes, I do have photos of myself. Most of the photos of myself, however, include carnival and theme park snapshots because, being a Californian, I like to visit a lot of amusement parks. I'm not showing them to any riff-raff, though.

6. What do you use in your artwork?

Colored pencils of various brands, maybe crayons, and always a Number 2. pencil with a fat eraser shaped like a puppy (Don't ask).

Occasionally, I will use the Photoshop, but it still frightens me.

7. There's a guy on the Internet also named Turquoisephoenix! And he has characters that have the same names as your characters! Did he steal? (Or did you?)

Many people may not know, but there's a person on a RPing site named Turquoisephoenix, and he has characters named Doomfeather and Laigon.

Wait! Before you storm in search for him, he did not steal.

Basically, not too long ago, me along with two other friends got into a brief argument in a shout box on a website after I received some flames one some of my Doomfeather pictures, claiming that I stole him.

Turns out it was a big coincidence, because even though he had the same name and two of the same names as my characters, we really weren't copying off one another. So we quickly apologised for the mess we made in the shoutbox and left.

For one, his Doomfeather is nothing like my Doomfeather. More heroic and more of a person you can base your life on.

And Laigon got his name from "Someone who serves" in Japanese, and he's a heroic good guy. (Unlike the beer-guzzling Laigon I have.)

Cartoons, fantasy novels, video games, music...
I absorb like a sponge.

Kind of, it depends. If I know you, then yes. If you're going to randomly drive by, then no.

10. Why are you so slow in doing stuff?

Life.
Sad thing is, I have one and oftentimes I'm forgetful or just plain lazy. That doesn't mean I'm not a good art-trader. Nooo.
It's just that I'm a little slow. Sorry. Hope that doesn't discourage anyone, because I can't help being what I am.

13. Speaking of Doomfeather, why do some of your characters have such weird names?

Well, some of the weird names have blame in literature like Redwall. Doomfeather's name is written in the same "style" as the villainous rat names. They usually take two nouns, smoosh them together, and whammo! Name. Like Cheesethief, Dripnose, and Ripclaw. That's why some of my older characters have names like Ravenkill, Stormwing, Doomfeather, and so on.

I tried to go away from that, but I'm stubborn. I try to keep my character's names constant. Only changes occur when they get married (ie. Crystal Wintertree to Crystal Gin, Minerva Firesbane to Minerva Windstryk...)

Video game art designer. That's why I'm going to colleges that revolve around the media arts.

15. What's an MST?

An MST is when you take an original story and insert comments inbetween the text. The name itself has origins from the show "Mystery Science Theater 3000", but the show itself is called MST3K, while the adaptations of that show's riffing are called MSTs.

MSTs are usually done in good humor (exceptions to that are a mockery of the MST3K show and are just plain jerky), and should not be taken in offense. However, it is nice to ask for permission before MSTing someone's fic. That's why I like taking requests to see if anyone wants their story done.

17. But why? Why are you writing Neopets fic instead of Spyro fic?

There are times when writing seems more like a hassle than any form of fun. When I wrote TRoC, I wrote it in my own free time, without any deadlines or people sending me death threats to get it done, and it felt really fun and relaxing to actually write a long story with a beginning, a middle, and end.

Cue TRoD and, to a lesser extent, Shelter from the Rain.

Also cue about 40 different people telling me to keep writing and to keep inserting THEIR characters into the story, telling me "Oh, you protrayed so-and-so wrong!" and for me to insert yet another obscure Spyro character into the mess.

TRoD was a lesson in too many fancharacters and fanideas, not enough actual Spyro into it. I really tried to make Spyro a bigger player in the later chapters of TRoD, but it crashed down hard and I got sick of writing it.

Neopets, on the other hand, I'm a small time player, the fandom isn't full of indignant people who feel that I should suit their every whim, and plus, it's a relaxing change of pace because Spyro has a lot more limitations than Neopets. With Spyro, you have only so many characters in so many places. Over time I knew all the major players by heart, and it bored me. How many times can you write about Idol Springs? It just seemed like there wasn't much to do with the given cast anymore. (Hence why I seem to be more off than on in terms of the Spyro RP site.)

Neopets, being an interactive site, needs to have a giant cast of characters and landscapes. The Haunted Woods alone has a swamp, a haunted carnival, a Victorian town, haunted crypts, witchs' towers, gypsy camps, haunted graveyards, poisonous lakes of acid, overgrown forests, abandoned caves...and that's just The Haunted Woods. There's also Meridell, Terror Mountain, The Lost Desert...the fact is, I got really sick of writing for Spyro, so I sort of moved on...

Right now, Neopets, Pokemon, Crash Bandicoot, Rareware, Psychonauts (where I'm the silent but deadly provider of crazy ideas), and a small dash of about 20 different fandoms including Sly Cooper, Rayman, and Monster Rancher. The fandoms shift every once in a while...plus I try to think of myself as a well-rounded fanart drawer.
